XIE 1.5
We hadn't planned on doing Tees (or anything other than hoodies really) until well into the future, but with so many people asking for Tees, the XIE 1.5 collection was creator to make carrying around your mental health pick me up more accessible to more people.
XIE Tee
Created as a sister product to the hoodie after it sold out so quickly. Moo took the most meaningful and favourite parts to rework the design, keeping the black-on-black "just because its hard to see, doesn't mean it's not there ideology.
IT IS LYING TO YOU
For me, this is the harsh voice in my head. Some of these 'Truths' I've thought about myself either came from people in my life who were less than supportive, or they just simply popped into existence one day. It took me many years to learn how to look past those overwhelming voices.
You may have some nasty words about yourself bouncing around up there, but this does not mean they hold truth.
I want to make sure your sleeve is there, like that good friend who says "don't listen to them".
You'll notice that the words face both ways, because it is also for us who wear it, and we can always read it clearly.
FACELESS
Something I started sketching whilst trying to work through what anxiety may look like if we could see it. This process is what lead to the poem on the bottom of the Xie Hoodie. If you look closely, her neck is exposed showing a tendons/bones. Anxiety always felt like it took my breath and altertered my senses, making everything fast and slow, can see everything and nothing, and suddenly words no longer flow.
XIE Cap
Covered in patches & embroidery, front back and side. With a focus on "it's lying to you" as those intrusive thoughts tend to live in the brain. I love the under brim, and internal cap details, feels like a secret only we know about.
This cap comes in a box, designed to look like a cleaning product to help "clean the mind" (but in a fun way, not a non-emo "metal corrupts you" way)
XIE Chain
The XIE chain has extra embossing on the back of the "M", you'll notice 3 little dots. In my recovery with anxiety, I worked a lot in 3s to overcome my panic attacks. What are 3 things you can smell? now 3 things you can see? 3 things you can hear? Focusing on things that are absolute. Irrefutable facts. Also breathing in slow 3s,sometimes all together.
Sounds so simple, & knowing who I am now, hard to believe I was ever once in that position, but having a reminder on hand to Focus On What Is Real can never hurt.
The Muted Keyring carries the message "This is only Temporary" & the short Xie keychain carries "It is lying to you". We can go through periods of feeling alone or with a less stable support system surrounding us. Sometimes it is nice to see the words in a physical form, and a reminder there are others out there carrying this with you.
The Xie Sticker Pack:
The Print
Every order comes with a print that has a personalised message and signed by Moo. Being a half collection, a night scene was created of the original XIE print with our oxygen vending machine, just costs the disposal of a couple brain demons
The Stickers
Every order comes with a few stickers (different to the exclusive sticker pack) to bring a bit of the 2010s back into our lives.
The Packaging
Black Dog Institute
It was hard to pick the first organisation as there are so many out there. For the XIE collection, Muted will be donating to Black Dog Institute.
"We are the only medical research institute in Australia that investigates mental health across the lifespan—from childhood to adulthood. "
I love to see all the different avenues they offer. They have a range of online courses, digital tools and resources. I know first hand it can be hand to even just start. That option of beginning in the comfort of your own home with the stepping stone of online courses prior to any face to face is a great doorway.
Another thing that stood out was offer training to places like workplaces, awareness and knowing how to support others is important part to helping Mental Health.
I haven't personally experienced these charities, so look into them at your own desgresion & consult your health care professional. But below are some other charities with things I thought was worth noting.
Lifeline
"Every day, nine Australians are lost to suicide, a heartbreaking reality that affects countless lives." While each loss is deeply felt, there is hope in our collective efforts to prevent suicide." - Lifeline
I think services like Lifeline are very important. Remember they are here to chat and help you out in times of need. We are never truely alone.
This Way Up
I love the idea of this! Its an online based course to help with cognitive behaviour. I also STRUGGLED to do anything in person, I would of loved a resource like this when I was stuggling, and if I am ever dealing with stress or depression again, I am 100% going to try it out.
Beyond Blue
I thought this may be worth mentioning as their name comes up a lot online. worth mentioning I did not choose them once I read some reviews regarding wait times with prompted referrals and cut offs on there online chat (for support). Though it is free & they still have a lot of other services & good reading material on their site.
We are always looking out for charities and organisations doing great things, feel free to email us places/resources you think more people should know about hello@muted.world
